More than 50 senior officers of the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) are currently attending a three days Third Quarter Command Group meeting which is being held at the Pacific Theological College in Nasese, Suva.
Speaking at the opening of the Command Group, Commissioner of Corrections, Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu stressed the need for officers to put in more effort to ensure that all goals and programs are completed in the timeline given.
” After winning the Prime Minister’s Award at the recent Public Service Commission – Service Excellence Awards, the journey has only begun as we will need to improve on our current ratings and move the department to a whole new level,” added Mr Vasu.
“We must maintain the standards that have enabled us to win this prestigious award and continue to strive for perfection in the civil service.”
Mr Vasu added that one area that the FCS is looking at maintaining and improving is the safety and security of inmates and officers.
“We will also be looking at the planning and drafting of our Annual Corporate Plan for 2015 so that come the beginning of 2015, all institutions have a clear knowledge of the various activities that will need to be carried out.”
The three days meeting will see senior officers from various institutions presenting on work carried out in the third quarter as well as the way forward for the last three months of the year.
