The Fiji Corrections Service(FCS) carried out their nationwide Civic Pride Program this morning in different venues across the country.
The clean up program is part of the FCS Annual Corporate Plan which ensures that officers and family members also play their part in keeping the country clean.
Speaking to the officers and their families of the FCS National Headquarters Division, Commissioner of Corrections, Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu said that this first civic pride program for 2015 is a chance for everyone to play their roles in keeping Fiji a clean and beautiful place.
“We must ensure that we set examples to our younger generations in keeping Fiji a clean place because after all, this is their home for years to come,” added Lt.Colonel Vasu.
National Headquarters Division cleaned up along the Nasese waterfront, officers and families of Naboro Corrections Centre cleaned up their compound, officers from Suva Corrections Centre cleaned up along the Walu Bay Industrial area and officers from Nasinu Corrections Centre along with their families cleaned up their own compound.
Meanwhile 35 officers from the Lautoka Corrections Centre cleaned up at the Sunshine Special School whilst 20 officers and inmates cleaned up the Ba Corrections Centre.
Officers from the Vaturekuka Corrections Centre in Labasa also carried out their clean up program at the FCS sugar-cane farm in Batinikama, Labasa.
