Nationwide Civic Pride program for FCS

Officers of the Fiji Corrections Service took part in a nationwide civic pride programme and cleaned up in designated areas around the country.

In the Northern Division, eight senior officers from the Vaturekuka Corrections Centre cleaned up at the Old People’s Home in Samabula.

According to Supervisor Northern, Mr Apimeleki Navuni, this is a great opportunity for the officers to be involved in community work and giving back to those who had once served our country and who are kept at the home.

Taveuni Corrections Centre involved 24 inmates in their cleanup campaign at the Waiyevo grounds.

In Naboro, 50 serving officers and 151 recruits cleaned up at the Naboro Corrections Compound as well as the perimeters of the Corrections Centre.

Supervisor Southern, Mr Penisoni Tuapati led his team of officers and says that working in a clean environment is paramount especially as it is the largest corrections facility in the country.

Twenty-nine officers of the Suva Corrections Centre cleaned up the farm at the St.Giles Hospital as well as in and around the premises.

Six officers and eight inmates from the Nasinu Corrections Centre cleaned up at the St.Christopher’s Home in Nakasi.

According to Officer-in-Charge of the Nasinu Corrections Centre, Mr Waisale Soqonakalou, they cleaned up the existing farm and also took time out to plant vegetables for the home.

National Headquarters staff took part in a cleanup programme beginning from the School of Maritime in Laucala Bay to the My Suva Park.

Officers cleaned up thoroughly at the park as well as removed debris from the foreshore.

This is not the first time that the Fiji Corrections Service has taken part in civic pride programmes and nor will it be the last.
