Lord Prior visits FCS

Lord Prior, Professor Anthony Mellows paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) Lt Colonel Ifereimi Vasu to discuss on the future collaboration between St. John and the FCS.

During their discussions, Lt Colonel Vasu highlighted on the programs and activities that is currently being undertaken within the department.

“We have been tasked by Government to further reduce the recidivism rate from the 5.8 percent which we achieved last year,” said Lt.Colonel Vasu.

“Most of our programs are centered on the rehabilitation of in-mates and this has been progressing well,” added Lt.Colonel Vasu.

Through the discussions, it is hoped that St. John and FCS will work closely in terms of training for both officers and inmates on the basics of first aid care.
