The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) today welcomed Police Inspector Mikaele Koro as the newly appointed Police Liaison Officer at its headquarters in Suva. This marks the revival of the position after a hiatus of more than a decade, following a formal request by the FCS to the Acting Commissioner of Police.
The re-establishment of the Police Liaison Officer role underscores the commitment of both organizations to strengthen inter-agency cooperation. This collaboration is critical to addressing shared challenges, including criminal investigations, intelligence sharing, and the management of offenders, ensuring a coordinated approach to justice and public safety.
Inspector Mikaele was officially introduced this morning by Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Superintendent Pramesh Ram, during a courtesy visit to the FCS headquarters. Commissioner of Corrections, Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa, warmly welcomed Inspector Mikaele, emphasizing the importance of the role in enhancing communication and operational alignment between the Fiji Police Force and the FCS.
“This appointment signifies a renewed partnership between our organizations,” Dr. Nakarawa stated. “By reviving this position, we aim to foster closer collaboration that will ultimately benefit the justice system and the communities we serve.”
Inspector Mikaele’s appointment is expected to streamline processes, facilitate timely information exchange, and reinforce collective efforts to uphold law and order across Fiji.
