The piggery at Naboro has major expansion plans in light of the increasing demand from the market. Piggery farming is the rearing and commercial production of pigs (boars and sows). Apart from commercial objectives, the Piggery Small Business Unit (SBU) is also focused on obligations in line with the People’s Charter which is to enhance the development of improved food security. Comparably with poultry, feed has proven to be the most important component in the piggery business due to its impact on health, productivity and economic returns and share in total production cost (averaging between 60 – 70 per cent).
