The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) had the honor of hosting His Excellency Dupito D. Simamora, the Ambassador of Indonesia, today at the Nasinu Corrections Centre and Suva Remand Centre. The visit was part of ongoing discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral engagement in the fields of corrections and rehabilitation.
Accompanied by Colonel Eko Indriyanto, the Republic of Indonesia’s Defence Attaché, and the Ambassador’s First Secretary, His Excellency toured key facilities, including the Vocational Training School and the FCS Band Unit’s storage and practice room at the Nasinu Corrections Centre. The delegation then proceeded to the Suva Remand Centre to observe its operations and infrastructure.
To acknowledge His Excellency’s presence, the FCS organized a traditional sevusevu ceremony followed by a buffet lunch. During the visit, the Ambassador expressed his sincere appreciation to the Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service for the warm reception and hospitality. He commended the efforts of the FCS men and women, reaffirming the Indonesian government’s
commitment to assist Fiji in its endeavors to combat drug addiction and rehabilitate prisoners.
In response, the Commissioner acknowledged His Excellency’s humility in accepting the invitation and expressed gratitude for the study tour organized by the Ambassador to the Indonesian Correctional Services. He stated that the exchange of knowledge and best practices is vital for both nations as they strive to improve their correctional systems.
