EIGHT officers today commenced a French learning course at the Alliance Francaise in Suva.
Assistant Commissioner (Administration) Apimeleki Taukei said the course was mainly to upskill the officers and assist them in their duties locally and abroad.
“The course is a pre-requisite for officers engaging in missions abroad and we also have some inmates who speak French. Learning the French language will assist the officers in terms of serving UN missions in French-speaking territories too,” he said.
Mr Taukei said FCS also did not want to be disadvantaged with language barriers thus the training for selected officers.
Also this week, FCS officers commenced a Chinese language course at the Confucius Institute at USP.
