The Fiji Corrections Service is working to meet all the targets set by Government under its Capital Projects for 2014.
Ministry of Finance officials earlier this week toured the Corrections facilities in Nasinu, Suva and Naboro to try and gauge the extent of work being carried out already.
Corrections Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent Akuila Namakadre said capital projects for 2014 included the maintenance of staff Quarters, upgrading of CCTV, fencing of the Institutions, upgrading of corrections institutions, institutions road works and the construction of a new piggery shed.
Supt Namakadre said the tour was also to highlight the implementations of capital projects that have already been carried out on the ground.
“Our main target now is to utilize the 60 per cent budget as part of the Public Sector Investment Programme criteria and we are working around the clock to fully implement all our projects on the ground,” said Supt Namakadre.
He said finance officials were also notified on some of FCS requests for the year 20 15.
“Projects for next year like the continuation of the installation of CCTV, maintenance of Staff Quarters in Naboro and Prison Institutions, Development of Commercial Enterprise, fencing of Institutions and relocation of ECU Unit in Naboro”
He added that those capital Projects are to in line with the FCS annual Corporate plan of maintaining Safety and security, Improving Infrastructure, Improving Rehabilitation , Improving Corporate Services as well as Improving the Correction Enterprise consisting of a bakery, piggery and poultry among other commercial entities.
