Commercial Arm
The Fiji Corrections Services since 2009 has embarked on a number of initiatives to generate income earning opportunities from the available land resources at its disposal. It is now targeting inmates more purposefully in order to develop and strengthen their skills prior to discharge. The Commissioner’s 2016 – 2017 intent is to reduce expenses and produce a more profitable output keeping in mind Rehabilitation as our focus point. Whilst continuing to expand marketability and improving on “value added’’ objectives with minimal losses and wastage. The Commercial arms of FCS, known as the Trade and Manufacturing Unit (TMA) include the Farm Unit, Bakery, Joinery, Garment, Piggery, Poultry and Beef. Apart from rehabilitation and up skilling of inmates, the TMA is another way of giving back Government’s investment to FCS.
