The Commissioner of Corrections, Commander Francis Kean has reminded officers in the Transport Department of the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) to be good examples to the rest of the drivers in the country.

Addressing the 40 participants at the Defensive Driving Course workshop conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Friday, June 30, Commander Kean said all drivers must take extra precautions all the time. “Be mindful that you are driving the Government vehicle.

Drive with caution. You must be an example to all the drivers in the country and never forget that you are always carrying the name of your organisation on the road,” he said.

He has also reminded the drivers to take good care of the vehicles they are driving like their own.

Apart from further enhancing the drivers’ skills and knowledge, it was also an opportunity to re-emphasise the responsibility held by drivers while on the road.

It reminded the drivers about the lives of their passengers and the need for them to appreciate and be aware of the fact they are sharing the road with other road users.

Participants were once again reminded that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.

The one day workshop was held at the Coffee Shop in Korovou.
